For my action and adventure film extract I chose 'Avengers Assemble' Iron Man vs Thor (first 52 seconds).
The scene opens up with a medium shot of Thor getting the lightning into his hammer. I then goes to an over the shoulder shot but a quick change to an extreme close up of Iron Man inside his suit/armor. Avenger's Assemble is a typical Hero kills Villain type of film as it contains superhero's, as all of the 'Marvel Avengers' 'Assemble' together to kill the evil man (Loki).
This extract does contain combat as there is conflict between two superhero's. They are both using their own armor or hammers/ own special physical features to try and defeat the person they are fighting. However these two superhero's are both in the avengers.
For me it does create suspense in the beginning when Iron Man is being stuck by lightning but his sarcastic, crude comment shows he is going to fight back and do what he can to defeat Thor. It also creates suspense as the extract ends and we do not see the rest of the fight.
Speed is used in the part where Iron Man takes them both into the air towards what seems like a cliff. The whoosing sound effect adds to the suspense making me thing "what's going to happen up there".
The other sound effects make me cringe in a way for example; the iron scraping along the cliff surface. It makes me cringe because it is a horrible noise.
The end of this extract enjoys me the most as it shows Iron Man on his feet recovering from Thor throwing him and he looks up and there's a massive woosh that leaves with him.
In conclusion I think this film is a good film to watch as it is a typical Action Adventure film as it contains both Action and Adventure.
Nearly there! Start by identifying the genre.
ReplyDeleteThen deal with each genre convention in turn in your opening topic sentence for each paragraph (e.g. 'Speed and motion are genre conventions that feature when...')
You DO refer to them (well done!) but also state that it's typical of the genre.
What about the second part of the question, the requirement to identify heroes / villains?
